Boosting Growth for a Start-up Media Technology Company

Project Overview

In June 2020, we were engaged by a start-up media technology company with an innovative platform that reshapes media consumption with its unique ‘Infinite Scroll’ feature. The company aimed to curate, promote, and discover media, showcasing immense potential. Our task was to enhance user growth, stimulate business development, and pave the way for investment opportunities.

Problem Statement

The company sought strategic assistance to fully realize the potential of its unique platform. The challenges were to increase brand visibility, attract investments, communicate its unique value proposition effectively, and build a thriving user community.

Approach and Strategy

Leveraging ‘Infinite Scroll’ Feature: Recognizing the unique potential of the ‘Infinite Scroll’ feature, we chose the NCAA March Madness event as a test-bed to enhance user engagement. Our hypothesis was that employing a familiar event would increase user metrics, and the success of this initiative validated this approach.

Enhancing Brand Visibility: We aimed to present the product as versatile and adaptable to various applications. By pitching the product as a new way to approach infinite scroll on The Next Web, we proposed integrating influencer and micro-influencer videos as anchor points in a world, with relevant products occupying the in-between spaces. This strategy initiated many ongoing discussions, effectively showcasing the platform’s potential.

Driving Growth Efforts: Despite the company’s potential as a service, we believed it could be best leveraged as a media platform. We initiated pitch sessions with venture capitalists and accelerators, both online and in-person. This strategy resulted in potential acceleration opportunities and interest from the Discovery Channel, which was drawn to the platform’s ‘second screen’ approach.

Conclusion

Our collaboration with the start-up led to significant interest in the platform, initiating conversations with potential investors and partners, and successfully increasing user engagement. By leveraging its unique ‘Infinite Scroll’ feature and showcasing its potential across various platforms, we set the stage for the company’s future growth and success.
